I'm a wicked girl

SELF REFLECTIONS

I think I’m a wicked girl and I need to be judged by fire.

I’m the only girl in my family.

Whenever my dad does something that annoys me, I make it so obvious by giving him the silent treatment.

And my dad is the type that loves open-ended statements and questions, which only gives me more edge; I just keep mute until I feel he knows that I ain't talking with him. 😅

If this happens in the morning, he’ll come back from work with my favorite foodstuffs.

If it happens at night, he’ll bring them home the next day.

And anytime I say, “Daddy, thank you so much,” he’ll reply with,

“Yes o, you’re my only daughter, I have to take care of you.”

At that point, there’s just so much laughter in me because, honestly, he’s trying to--like my friend said—appease the gods. 😭

That’s usually the best time to bill my dad! 😂

I can ask him for favors for the next three days, and he’ll keep saying,

“You’re my only daughter, I have to take care of you,”

or

“Be a good girl.”

And I always feel mischievous.

Am I manipulating my dad?

Truly—in Iya Segi’s words from The Real Housewives of Baba Segi—“Men are like yam, cut them how you like.”

But my dad is not a yam o 😭
